NICE FISH

Rick and I fished this morning - we got out at about 8am and were back by noon.  Rick got a nice bass and I lost one - a little tricky trying to net a fish by yourself when you are using a 10 1/2 foot rod - there has to be a trick.  But I did successfully land another nice bass and a beautiful walleye.  Rick has company coming and we have to build our supply of fish back up for another fish fry.  Good way to start!!
We had a lot of fun.

WE BE TUBING

It was another beautiful day up here so we went to Joanne and Mitch's place and went tubing!  Mitch finally got a chance to experience it when Rejean took the controls and pulled the big guy around the lake a few times.  He was in the middle and Joanne and I were on the sides.  We sure felt those turns!!  Thank goodness there are handles for everyone because I think on some of those turns, we were flying high off the tube.  We spent the rest of the afternoon just sitting on the dock and having some cocktails.  Next time we water ski!!!!

BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR SOME RIVER FISHING WITH FRIENDS

Finally got a chance to get out fishing with Dan and his son Max and nephew Mac.  I used to work with Dan back at Scotiabank in Windsor.  He has been coming up here for the past 12 years.  It has been hit and miss to get together with him when he comes up as we tend to have a lot of company this time of the summer.  But it worked out this time and I took them to the River to try their luck and what good luck they had.  We started out slow but Mac and I got a fish on at the same time - mine was nice bass but Mac had a beautiful Brook Trout on.  Mac was going to help net mine but when I saw what he had and what I had - well, Brook Trout trumps bass any time.  I hauled my bass on shore while I got his fish in the net.  Beautiful first Brook Trout for Mac!!  I let Max try out my 10 1/2 foot rod and he got a fine Rainbow Trout on right in the fast current.  Took him a bit to get him in but it was a successful netting job done by Dan.  Don't see many Rainbows caught around here lately.  In the end we finished with a nice bass, a beautiful Brook Trout and a fine Rainbow Trout.  Everyone was happy - Dan had been catching quite a few fish during the week so he didn't mind the kids getting the ones today.
I let them take home my bass for a delicious fish fry this evening.  I am always happy to see the people I am with catch some beautiful fish.  I have a feeling that there will be some Christmas wish lists discussed tonite.  A creel, a worm box, chest waders etc.and some prescription polarized sunglasses for Dan.  Can't wait for them to come back next year.
I had fun!!!!

QUITE THE DAY FOR QUADDING

Joanne and Mitch have been here 2 1/2 months and we finally got a chance to play with them yesterday.  We started out at 10am and we didn't get home until after 5pm.  It was hot but we were in the shade most of our run.  Mitch was all decked out in his quading outfit and a nice color so we wouldn't loose him.  Joanne had on her lime green so we couldn't loose her either.  We followed the trail just off the gravel pit and continued on to the hydro line.  All sorts of terrain to keep you on your toes and all sorts of footprints and FRESH bear scat full of raspberries.  We kept our eyes open for them.  Saw a couple of partridges on the trails and we saw a pile of used shell casings where someone was obviously target shooting.  We ended our run at a stream where we could cool off a bit.  I should have brought my bathing suit!!!

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Just a couple of shots that Andrew took with his new 4K drone.  First shot is a look down the lake with Stacey and Andrew's cottage to the left.  Second shot is down the lake from one end to the other and the last shot is of our house and Rick's trailer.  More later.

A BUSY TWO WEEKS

Just a few of the reasons I have been away from this Blog for the past two weeks.  The kids were here plus Jodie's best friend and her beautiful little girl Elsa.  Andrew brought his new 4K drone and got some amazing photos and videos of our place and Axe and Jobam.  We discovered the kids love rocks!!  Who needs toys when you can pick rocks and put them in a tub of water?  Charlie likes to climb trees assisted by Rejean.  They went for walks in the bush with Sam leading the way.  They loved Steve's wagon.  And they relaxed at the bar after a hard day's playing.  They enjoyed sitting in the recliner and watching Finding Nemo and Rio.  I watched these two movies so many times over these past two weeks.  And they loved the water.  I have so many more pictures but I will share them over the next few days.
I had soon much fun.
