PORCUPINE UP A TREE

Saw this little guy today up a tree - I have seen them on the ground but never up a tree - just munching on the branches.  He saw me and was not too happy to be disturbed and he slowly made his way down the tree.
Just thought I would share...

A GOOD JOB DONE

Finally the two wood sheds are full and ready for next winter - thanks to Barry, Ed and Rick.  It is nice to have some help with the wood.  There is still a pile of blocked wood left to split but that will be stacked to dry for the winter of 2016.  We will order 2 bunks of wood to be delivered this fall and start all over again next spring.
I saw another bear today by the side of the road right by our place.  I stopped to get a picture and he saw me and wandered back into the bush.  I think it is the same one that paid us a visit at the house here  last week - he looks like a 3 year old - not too big and not too small.  It is not Slick because he was walking on all fours and Slick isn't.  He has hurt one of his paws.  I am not too concerned with him being so close because he is acting like a normal bear and is afraid of us - but I will carry my bear whistle just in case.

THE NEW BLIND

I have neglected to post pictures of the new double blind and was reminded of that fact this morning so here it is.  It is big enough for Mitch to stand up straight in and wide enough for 2 hunters with room to spare.  It has windows that open, camo curtains, fixture for the heater and hooks for clothing.  There will be shelves installed shortly to hold all the stuff the hunters need.  It has been a group effort - Rejean built the walls and floor and roof in our garage, Mitch helped paint it when he was here and Barry and Ed transported the structure to the site that was prepared by Rejean and myself.  We still have to get flooring for it - it has been decided they will be those spongy squares that join together - it will keep the noise down and insulate the floor during the cold November days of the hunt.

A good joint effort by all involved.  Happy Hunting!!!

FIRST FISH

Opening day and we headed out first thing in the morning - we were on the road by 7am!!  We really had to work for them but we got 2 - Rick got the first one and I got number 2 - I had 2 other hits but couldn't get them.
Let the fishing begin…
The top picture is of the guys at PigPen last nite.  We went for a ride and stopped to check it out before a visit with Ron and Mary.

GOOD AS NEW

When Barry and Ed were up they worked on the rake implement for the tractor that Rejean uses to smooth out the roads and some trails up here.  Barry welded a new piece on it and then painted it.  Looks good as new - good job!!!

SORRY JOHN

I almost forgot to post this picture of John with his crying towel after the Montreal loss the other nite.  Maybe next year...
