Meet Woody (Jenn named him) He is a young pileated woodpecker that has been hanging around here for the past little while. We know we have them around because of the pecking and holes in the trees and their sounds (I think they sound like monkeys) A few weeks ago, 3 of them flew by the house and then we saw this one hopping on the blackberry branches eating the blackberries. We thought he had injured his wing because they usually are very shy creatures and fly away immediately - but not Woody. Steve managed to get some great photos of him by Stacey and Andrew's place. It is a rare sight to see them this close and for a long period of time.

Nice new friend, any fall colours yet ? Looks like your summer was quiet, did you also cut back on you fall tourists too
Yes, the trees are starting - they were starting in August!! It will be a good color year for sure!!
