DESERT DECOR

Jodie and Dave liked these lights that were in the corner of the living room and dining room of our Presidential Suite. I sure enjoyed those accommodations. I am spoiled now for any future hotel stays. Nothing but the best for me now ;o)

DINNER IN THE DESERT

Had an amazing dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. It wasn't crowded at all. There was also Octoberfest festivities going on outside. Funny to see that in the middle of the desert...

NOTHING BUT GOOD NEWS

Jodie and I took the kids to their first pediatrician appointment today and all the news was good. They are both 8 lbs 1oz ( Charlie is still heavier by a fraction of an oz) so that means that they have gained bout a pound in a week! Could be all those late shift feedings the Grandparents are responsible for. We send the parents to bed early and then Rejean and I give them their last feedings and changings so that they can get a bit of a rest. Sometimes they get a wee bit more in their bottles. The doctor says that their progress is very very good and that they are at a stage where full term babies should be at let alone premature ones. We are doing everything right. Jodie's very happy. I got to sit in on the examination and to change a poopy diaper in front of the doctor and nurse and I aced it. So proud of myself. But when the doctor was saying how good everything was with the kids I almost cried I was so happy. I was a little surprised at that but had no control over it. I just love them so much.

DESERT OASIS

Our next scheduled outing is for this Friday nite. An over nite stay at the Tilal Liwa Hotel in the Liwa Desert. A beautiful hotel literally in the middle of the desert. It has a beautiful infinity pool that looks like it reaches right into the desert. Can't believe we only have a week left...

MAIN ATTRACTION

We went to the Grand Mosque today. What a beautiful place. Got tons of pictures but what I enjoyed most was how much attention the kids got. People were posing beside Jodie and Rejean and trying to get a good shot of them. We weren't allowed to take the stroller in so they had to be carried. I got to carry the diaper bag, Jodie's camera, my purse and my iPad. They were so good. Not a sound out of them. Their first visit to a Mosque!

MORE BERJ KHALIFA VIEWS

The ride up in the elevator to the 124th floor took an amazingly short period of time and was the smoothest ride ever. If my ears hadn't popped, you wouldn't know you had moved. No problem with feelings of panic. I actually was leaning against the window to get a better look down.
Cross that one off the bucket list I never knew I had...

WHAT'S NEXT ON THE AGENDA? DUBAI!!!

It is settled. Tomorrow we head to Dubai. It's only about 1 1/2 hour drive from Abu Dhabi. Jodie booked Rejean and I on the tour of the tallest building in the world!! I am a little afraid of heights but they say the trip up in the elevator is not bad. No windows and it takes about a minute or two to get to the top. As long as the elevator is not packed I will be fine. I guess the view is spectacular and for sure I will get some good pictures. And of course the world's largest shopping mall is located right there. Dam it. You know how much I hate shopping. We are also looking to travel to a hotel in the middle of the desert with a pool for an over nite stay. Then the only other thing I must see is the mosque. That, other than family, is the one thing I must see.
We went out last nite to a pub outside in a courtyard of a downtown hotel. I almost took my Levi jacket but changed my mind and took my shawl instead. Boy was it hot even at 8pm. I wished I could have taken off clothing. It was about 35 C. And a bit humid. The kids were a bit warm as we'll. I could have left my hoody, sweater and Levi jacket home. Next time.

WHO'S THAT

That's Jodie and either Monty or Charlie under the blanket just to get things started. I just thought it was a funny photo opportunity.

Jodie picked up these balls at the little shopping soirée at the Abu Dhabi golf course. They each have little white lights in them and you can choose the colours you want Jodie strung them around the letters she made for the kids. They will be perfect as night lights in the nursery for night time feedings and diaper changes.

And the kids with their hammer time pants on.

ANOTHER DAY WITH KIDS

Tish left this morning and I miss her already. We really didn't have a chance to get to know her at the wedding but this visit was perfect. I enjoy her company a lot. The girls got our mani/pedis last nite complements of Jodie and I must say it was the best I have ever had. My girl spent more time on one toe than others do on the whole foot. I tipped her well. When we got back we had our cigars on the balcony and watched the planes flying over head on their way to the airport. About one every 4 minutes. It was hot! We spent the day with the kids and talked Jodie into taking a well deserved nap. During that time we changed diapers on each one and fed them. I can't get enough of them. Tish had a hard time leaving them and I know I will too. But I still have over 2weeks left with them and we will eventually get out sight seeing but I have my priorities

MORE BABY PICTURES

A picture of Jodie actually holding one of her twins. Usually she can't because Tish, Rejean or myself won't let her. Lol. Tish is leaving tomorrow so she is trying to get as much baby time in as possible. Tonite the ladies are getting our mani/pedis And the guys are watching the kids. Then when we get home we have some cigars we are going to smoke. Tish and I will be smoking the MonteCristo Puritos and the guys have the "real" MonteCristos. Pictures for sure tomorrow. Jodie is not smoking partaking...

PHOTO SHOOT DAY

Yesterday it was time for a photoshoot. Jodie's friend Trina has a photography business and is just starting to do babies. She did an amazing job but then again it is hard to take a bad picture of this new family. When you are taking pictures of naked babies there is bound to be a few accidents and we had only one poopy incident but really, that is why there are washing machines. Today we are hitting a market where they sell hand made crafts so I may be using up some of my new dirhams ($)
