Ricky was in charge of cutting the tiles on the balcony - good job Ricky!!!
The other cutting board - full locking extension slides. From Lee Valley.
There is room for a full size fridge under the cabinets - maybe the next Christmas present for her - she doesn't have a computer so I can say that without fear of her finding out...
It is soooo much brighter than the old kitchen. It looks bigger, too.
Another view of the upper cabinets - she loved the color.
View of the lower cabinets - hopefully she won't put too many things on the counter top. She got a canister set from Lise for Mother's Day that matches the hardware.
The work crew - good job done!!!!
Rejean's mother really really really liked her new kitchen!!
Rejean's brother, Pierre, was supposed to help install the new kitchen but, as it turned out, he wasn't able to help due to health reasons - he had chest pains and, long story short, he was hospitalized and had 2 stints put in his arteries. He also discovered that he is diabetic!!! What a slacker!!! Anything to get out of helping - and you know I am only kidding when I say that. Rick was able to help Rejean do the installation. I acted as the gofer - and I was busy. I was told that that is a very important job. I saved them a lot of time running around getting this and that. It took them 5 full days of 7am - 5pm work. The big reveal was on Saturday. We had kicked her out of her condo during this time. She was also getting her bedroom ceiling redone because there was a big crack down the middle. It took the other workers 5 days as well to complete. 4 days of base coat then the final spray. The condo was crowded needless to say. The counter top was beautiful - the subway tiles were a soft grey and the paint was a taupe - they say it was mud color but I say taupe - it matched the colors in the counter top perfectly - these were picked out by Pierre who is color blind - go figure - his house is absolutely beautiful - for a color blind guy he does all right. There are 2 cutting boards on full extension locking slides - for her to make her famous meat pies. The microwave was special order from the states - it fit above her apartment size stove - they don't make them that small in Canada. She got a toaster oven which has it's own pull out locking shelf. There are pull out shelves for her spices and under the sink for her cleaning supplies. Under the sink is a small pull drawer out for her SOS pads and stuff. All the bells and whistles. She likes it. And Pierre approves as well. There are puck lites under the cabinets that we will replaces because they are shit - sorry, but they are. We had 2 lites burn out after only about 1 hour @ $4 a bulb!!! and they get hot. I don't have the name with me or else I would tell you so you don't buy them - we got them @ Home Depot - they will be changed the next time we are down.
I tried to load up the video of the big reveal but it didn't take - but she was very happy - she doesn't get too excited about too many things but she did when she saw her new kitchen. She had tears in her eyes and so did we all. She deserved it.
Nice to be home....
See Ya Bye
