A BEAUTIFUL DAY

 

Finally got out fishing today.  What a beautiful morning!  We used to be out at 6am but now we aim for 7 am.  We were on time.  It does help that we are 5 minutes away from Hooverville Landing and we can be on the water within about 15 minutes from leaving home.  It was slow going today. We only got 3 small ones plus the one I caught!!!!!

I thought I had snagged until I felt movement.  Holy Moly!  I knew it was massive.  It pulled drag and thank goodness I had checked mine earlier at Rejean’s suggestion.  I thought it was a big pike and I was hoping it didn’t get off.  But I finally got her to the surface and Lo and behold, it was a walleye!!  A huge one.  It measured 30 inches long and the stupid weigh scale didn’t work.  But we thought 7-8 pounds.  We got some pictures and got her right back in the water.  Rejean held her tail as he slowly moved her back and forth waiting for her to get her bearings. And with a splash of her tail, she was gone.  What a thrill!!  The biggest walleye I have ever caught and probably ever will.  She was a fish of a life time I am sure.  And I still had my worm!!!

TRYING TO GET OUT FISHING

 We went to Pig Pen after dinner to check out the river.  Running hard and no shore to fish off of.  Oh well.  Still a beautiful spot to watch the power of the Mississagi River.  We have the boat all set to go tomorrow but found out at the last minute our builder is coming over to fix some siding so looks like it will be Wednesday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN

 

It is my Sister Susan’s Birthday today.  She spent it with friends and family.  A lunch in Bayfield with Her friend Elaine, Shelley and Scott.  And hitting the beach after.  A perfect day for her. 

I wish her joy and happiness and good health.  I wish her many more vacations with Joanne and me.  I love you, Susan, very much.

NOT THE WEATHER WE WANT

 

May 12, 2026!!  May!  Not January!  Not February.  May!  It started snowing in November and it is still snowing in May.  We will be lucky to get 4 months of summer.  It is very frustrating.  The weather hasn’t even been nice.  We have had maybe 2 days where we could walk around in shirtsleeves.  All the rest of the time we have our winter coats on.  One bonus is no bugs!  But there is also no peepers. The little frogs who serenade us at nite.  So loud!  It has been too cold for them at nite.  Temps below 0.  Frost every morning.  I don’t think the nurseries are doing a good business right now.  It is too cold to even think about gardening.  And the frost every nite will kill them.  Right now it is 2 degrees C but feels like -3!

Thursday looks good!  16 and sunny 😎 Ricky is coming in!
