GETTING TO THE WOOD
Finally started on the double bunk of wood we got last fall. With Rick's help we had quite the production line going. Rick drove the tractor and I was responsible for placing the hook onto the logs and walking it over to the saw horse contraption and Rejean marked it in 16" sections and blocked it with the chainsaw. We got a good amt done. By the time Rick and I returned with a new log, Rejean had finished sawing and tossing the logs into the pile and was ready for our log.
I only bumped my head once on the bucket and the next time Rejean will lengthen the chain on the hook so I will have a little more room under the bucket when placing the hooks on the log. Hard on the back!!
I figure another 5 days and we should have it all blocked and ready to split.

FIRST FISH!!
My first fish of the season!! We were on the road at 6:30am and I got this guy shortly after we arrived. Rick got one a little later and that was it - the Fishing Gods cut us off.
They were delicious...

PIG PEN CHUTE
Took a ride up the highway the other evening to check out a fishing spot of ours - Pig Pen Chute. It was just roaring. No shoreline in the bay and my favourite rock was no where to be seen - under the water.
I think we may have to wait a while, while the river calms down.

FIRST TURTLE RELOCATION OF THE YEAR
Spotted this little guy on our driveway this afternoon. I have been watching for turtles and snakes as the weather has finally turned nice and almost warm - the bugs are out!!
He wasn't as big as we usually see but nonetheless a good size snapper. Rejean got the tote and gentle nudged him into it. At one point when he raised the tote, this little guy's face was smushed on the bottom. But he quickly re-adjusted himself for the ride to Hooverville.
Once there, he was gently released to go where ever he or she wanted to.
I have a feeling this won't be our last re-location...

MOTHER'S DAY
I have been without my Mom for 36 Mother's Days
I only celebrated 30 Mother's Days with her
Not a day goes by without something reminding me of her or wishing I could call and tell her something. I miss her
Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers and those who identify as Mothers. Enjoy your special day!!

RED NECK PLANTING
On the mine side Rejean raked the clearing and planted some clover and alfalfa in hopes that the deer would soon be there to graze this year. We rode our quads over the area today to pack it down. And it has been raining so that is a bonus to give the seeds a head start.
Tomorrow we are back doing wood. About 4 more trailer loads I think...
GETTING CAUGHT UP
The weather has sort of been co-operating and we have been able to get outside and get some work done.
First we have our Loon back. Each year we have one solitary Loon on the lake. They mate for life and I guess something happened to the other Loon and this one returns each year and stays all summer. He/she is fun to watch.
We helped our friends Ron and Mary do some landscaping at their new property last week. Rejean raked the large area next to the house and Ron moved some rocks with his backhoe and then both tractors were needed to move one big rock that was too big for one tractor to handle. Mary and I picked rocks.
I was in Windsor for a few days helping Claire with her balcony. After a delicious Chinese dinner one nite, we toured the big houses in Russell Woods. We spotted some Canada Geese and their little ones. We also saw some swans and a rabbit. Claire had never toured that area and she was left with a sore neck from gawking at all the houses. We had fun.
I spotted a man walking 3 Dachshunds at the Windsor Marina. Just had to get a picture of that. We used to have Dashounds when we were growing up and I always am drawn to them.
And the last picture is of our boat that is sitting ready for the Walleye opener next weekend. It is all set and we just have to get our fishing gear ready and we are good to go.
